Ced and Avril’s Tango In Buenos Aires

26/1/98

Hello everybody!

Since last we spoke we’ve climbed a very large hill in Santiago to find a very large Mary statue. It was like climbing a very large hill in Santiago to find a very large statue of Mary!

Well, it was really hot but we got to ride a funicular cable car and view a very smoggy city. Unfortunately, we didn’t get quite a good view of the snow capped mountains that were looming near by because of the smog.

…you get that.

For those of you from St Leo’s College, Ced caught up with big Dean Ilott in Santiago who is currently working for an internet company. Also for Greco, we found a c-man in a museum from prehistoric times, but we weren’t allowed to take a photo.

We arrived in Buenos Aires for a couple of nights. Nice place, lots of statues, but like all cities they all start looking the same. It’s great if you’ve got money to burn as Argentinos are renowned for partying hard.

Most of them eat after 10pm and hit the clubs after 1am. Couldn’t keep up with them, but we did learn to tango. Ced thinks he’s so suave now. Continue reading

Easter Island

17/1/98

Hola amigos

This is a quick note to let you know how we are. It’s a group letter cause it’s easier.

After Brissie, we arrived in Auckland, which is a pretty cool city. It was pretty uneventful though because we were stuffed and jet lagged. We then left after a few days and arrived in Papeete, Tahiti at midnight by which we were well and truly stuffed.

We just had a stop over there and then took off to Easter Island, which was fantastic.

You’ll probably receive our post card soon but for those who don’t, we are trying to find a scanner to show you some photos.

We stayed on Easter Island which is also known as Rapa Nui for 7 days and stayed with an islander family in a guest house with a couple of other guests including a complete alcoholic druggo german intensive care doctor who was actually a completely cool dude. Continue reading

Hello All

Well we are about to leave on our Most Excellent Adventure, which is a world trip in which we go to all 7 continents in 1 year.

We have an around the world ticket with World Navigator and we’ll start off in Auckland and then we’ll shoot over to Easter Island via Papeete in Tahiti and then across to Santiago in Chile. From there, we’ll cross over to Buenos Aires in Argentina and then fly down to Ushuaia at the bottom of South America and jump on a boat to go to Antarctica for 2 weeks with Avril’s mum.

After that, we’ll get back onto mainland and we don’t have another flight until September in New York, so basically we’ll travel overland to New York through South and Central America and Mexico and if we can, we’d love to try and backpack from Antarctica to Alaska overland.

Hopefully, we’ll get to Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, and then the USA and Canada.

From there, we’ll head across country and catch up with Sophie a friend from Thailand who lives in Quebec and then of course down to New York.

We’ll then fly to London and try and go to visit Steve and Ange in Scotland, and Umeer and Parin in London and Donal and Suzy in Ireland.

And then we’ll finish up by heading to Egypt for a month and then meet my family in Hong Kong before heading home.

Anyway, we’ve gotta go and get ready. While we are gone Donna and Derek will be looking after our place so if you need to get us then let them know or email us directly. Otherwise, Lebes will be back from Europe sometime in the year and he’ll be living at our place too while we are gone.

Make sure you guys keep in touch too OK.

Love Ced and Avril
